Writing Groups

The Private Site offers writing groups a website exclusively dedicated to the work of members of the group, who can post writings and blogs, comment on other members submissions, participate in forums and list events, devise competitions, earn points for activity levels on their site and the Master Site and post information to a resource section. One or more members can be designated as Administrator of the site and a comprehensive Administrator/User Manual is available in PDF format. Because of the online nature of the site, it will appeal to those writing groups who cannot meet very often.

All content of the Private Site can be uploaded to the Master Site when members wish to share their writings and exchange views and opinions with other groups worldwide. The Master Site will also be updated on a regular basis by the editor of the Master Site. The updates will cover resources, events, news, competitions, forum postings and the setting of polls and quizzes.

Additional features of the Private Site are (1) colour options for site look and ‘feel’ (2) a further level of privacy where any member may post work and ‘polish’ and ‘refine’ prior to release to other members of the group (3) a book building module which enables members to assemble work in book form, choose a cover from a range of cover options and put in place a table of contents (available end May 2010).

The Master Site is also sponsoring the International Writing Groups Book Award, where those groups that elect to produce a collection of their work can enter the competition with a first prize of €3,000, a second prize of €1,500 and a third prize of €750. Click here for more details on this competition.
